A recipe for the cold season to boost your immunity and support metabolism.
During the cold seasons, we are more receptive to viral infections like the common cold and other respiratory tract problems. To prevent these infections we need to boost our immune system. One way of doing this is by consuming the right food items and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Fresh fruits, vegetables and other items that are rich in vitamins can help our body to become more resistant to infections. We also need to keep our bodies moving during cold days and maintain an active lifestyle. During fall and winter we get less sunlight and therefore the vitamin D levels in our bodies drop. We should be out in the sun as much as possible and if we can´t get enough sunlight, we might get a vitamin D supplement from the pharmacy.
One of the best immune-supporting plants is ginger. It is naturally producing heat in the system and helps the body to get rid of mucus and other unwanted waste products. It helps the digestive process to function properly and boosts metabolism and immunity. In combination with honey, it loses its sharp taste and can be consumed more easily. Honey itself has many healing properties and can also be used to prevent or treat viral infections.
